Something almost as important as your go-to Subway order? The cookie you pick to go with it.
And now there’s a new one in the cabinet that’s already winning hearts of those in the office who gave it a try – the classic ANZAC biscuit.
They’ve just released The Anzac biscuit for the month of April - ahead of Anzac Day on the 25th, when we remember and honour all Kiwis who served and died in wars and peacekeeping operations.
Sticking true to the original recipe, it’s packed with the classic combination of golden syrup, oats, and coconut.
And let’s not forget the biggest judging criteria for any ANZAC biscuit - the crisp edge and soft centre.

We got to try some of the fresh cookies and they did not disappoint.
“If someone told me it was a home-baked cookie I would’ve believed them,” One taster said. “Besides the classic subway cookie shape, it wasn't like any other subway cookie I'd had.”
Another added: “The mix of oats gives it that perfect chew in the middle and it's just... *lost for words* ...yummy! I honestly could have ten have those in one sitting🤭.”
They even went as far to say: “I've just had few ANZAC biscuits in my lifetime and this one tops the list.”
Someone else pointed out: “It was a great attempt at an absolute classic bikkie. Kinda basic, but that’s the point.”
“It's giving comforting, afternoon tea at nana's house. Texture was perfect,” said a fourth. So, if that's where your cookie priorities lay, you’ll be stoked.
A few of the crew were a bit tougher with their judging criteria - it really was a mixed bag.
And it’s not just satisfying the ol’ belly, it’s actually doing good and giving back.
Proceeds from every bikkie are going straight to support The Royal New Zealand Returned and Services’ Association (RSA) and their work with veterans and whānau across Aotearoa.
RSA National President Sir Wayne Shelford says funds raised will go to the National Poppy Trust, which helps cover everything from home repairs and accessibility upgrades, to mental health support, medical treatments and easing financial pressures.
“The RSA delivers much needed support to New Zealand’s veterans of military service and their whānau. Because we’re not funded, we are reliant on donations to deliver our support services across the country,” he said.
“[Subway’s] Anzac Biscuit not only raises the profile of our veterans and their sacrifices, it helps raise critical funds that will be used to directly support them.”
Subway NZ's managing director Shane Bracken said: “We knew we wanted to do something special to pay tribute to the mateship, courage and resilience our ANZACs stood for.”
“The Anzac Biscuit is more than just a classic Kiwi treat - it symbolises remembrance and respect.
Judging by the team’s reaction, we’ll be grabbing them by the dozen - especially if it means doing some good while we’re at it.
