V Energy is dropping two brand-new flavours as part of a whole new range - but so far, it’s been on the down low.
Across social media and in some supermarkets around the country, eagle-eyed shoppers have spotted V Riise on shelves.
The two new flavours - mandarin and blackcurrant - are made with 5% fruit juice and include trendy ingredients like green tea powder and apple cider vinegar.
It’s being marketed as a slow-release energy drink, thanks to its isomaltulose sugar alternative.
According to Food Standards AU NZ, it contains glucose and fructose, making it similar to traditional sugars.
“Isomaltulose provides the same amount of energy as sucrose (sugar), but is digested more slowly, leading to lower and slower increases in blood glucose when compared to sucrose.”
In simpler words, it provides a steady energy lift throughout the day. It's ideal for someone like me who spends hours on a can, ‘cause the zoomies hit real quick otherwise.
While V hasn’t officially announced the new release, people are already getting their hands on the flavours - and we’re some of them.
We screeched a high pitch scream in the dairy this morning when we spotted a lone can of the Mandarin flavour chilling in the fridge.

The sprint back to the office to crack it open and pass it around was giving Usain Bolt a run for his money.
On first sniff, it smelled super strong and fruity. But taste wise, we were split - one of the gals compared it to Fanta.
"It tastes like a dull version," she said. “You get the spritz of mandarin, but it dwindles quickly.”
I agreed, but was still obsessed. Though, to be fair, I’m biased because I love ANYTHING orange or mandarin-flavoured.

Plus, I despise zero-sugar drinks - I CAN taste the difference - so even though this one contains isomaltulose, it still felt sweet enough without being as intense as a regular energy drink.
All in all, it was a hit, and now we’re on a mission to track down the blackcurrant flavour.
As for where to find them yourself? Bit of a mystery game right now.
Here’s hoping V hard launches these bad boys soon and gives us a clearer idea of where to stock up.
