Popular Kiwi-made hot cross buns recalled over risk of glass contamination

New fear unlocked.

Right as we get into the thick of stocking up for Easter, a bunch of Hot Cross Buns have been recalled for potentially containing - brace yourself - glass.

Daily Bread has issued a recall on their ‘Traditional Hot Cross Buns’ over the very real danger of customers consuming affected buns.

According to the Food Recall Notice via the Ministry for Primary Industries, all 22 packs of recalled buns were sold exclusively at Farro Fresh stores across Auckland.

The buns come in $25, 250g six-packs, packaged in cardboard boxes, each dated with a best-before of 10 April 2025.

No other Daily Bread goodies have been caught up in the recall.

If you've picked up a pack and it's part of the batch in question, you're urged to take it back to Farro for a full refund.

However, if you have any questions around the recall, Farro is directing communications to be with the bakers at Daily Bread.

MPI advises anyone who’s eaten the buns and has health concerns to seek medical advice - It’s better to be safe than sorry, right?!

If you haven’t eaten yours yet, or chucked some in the freezer for Easter weekend, you might want to check the BB date and act ASAP.
