Kendrick Lamar has shown love to the next generation once again by giving a speech and writing a note to a young fan in his audience.
The kid, also called Kendrick, wrote a big sign to get K-dot's attention during the Detroit leg of the artist's 'Big Stepper's Tour'.
His father, Dave, took a photo of the sign, which has since circulated online. It simply reads: "My name is Kendrick. This is my 1st concert. Can we take a pic."
The Compton-born rapper obviously saw the sign during his show (probably because young Kendrick and his dad were standing right at the front of the crowd) and talked to his young fan. He told him to never give up on his dreams, to thank his parents for bringing him along to the concert and to forever be grateful to them.
"Shoutout to my little boy right there Kendrick," Lamar said while crouching down on stage.
"That your parents with you, together? Always honour them, man. They brung you to your first concert. Always respect and honour them," he continued.
"I remember when I was your age too, dreaming. Little Kendrick, do what you wanna do in life."
Some wise, wise words from the 14-time Grammy winner, it's so good to see Kendrick inspiring the next generation.
However, that's not where the night ended for the two Kendricks.
After the show, Lamar wrote his own message for the 9-year-old.
"Young Kendrick thank you for coming," it reads.
"I'm glad we got to exchange energy. You are special. Continue to manifest the great energy you possess!!! See you next time!!! Luv!!!"
Mai FM is proud to be bringing Kendrick to New Zealand later this year. If you want the chance to get noticed by K-dot himself, or just see one of the best to ever do it live and in person, get your tickets here.
