In case you missed it, Linkin Park debuted a new song and music video on Friday, called ‘Up From The Bottom.’
The new single was written and recorded on the road during their huge From Zero World Tour. Vocalists Emily Armstrong and Mike Shinoda trade lines on the chorus: “You keep me waiting down here so far below, staring up from the bottom, up from the bottom.”
The song has a healthy dose of nostalgia, throwing in turntable scratches, 808s, and a classic Shinoda rap. It feels pretty classic Linkin Park, but with a new feel.
Speaking about the new song to Billboard last month, Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn said in his opinion, “it’s the best song we’ve ever made,” while Shinoda called the music video “one of the best we’ve ever had.”
Plenty of fans in the comments are stoked that LP is continuing on for the next generation.
“It’s so awesome how there are people who were 15 in 2000 discovering Linkin Park now I’m 15 and they’re still dropping amazing music. Unreal longevity,” one person wrote.
While another commented, “I was 17 when Hybrid Theory dropped, now my son is 17 and we are discovering Linkin Park together Up From The Bottom.”
On the same day that this new tune dropped (Friday 28), Evanescence also released a new song. A good day for anyone who was listening to both these bands in the early 2000s.
