No, it was not an April Fool's joke - Skrillex has pulled through and given us what we wanted.
The surprise album, 'F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3' features a whopping 34 tracks, featuring artists like Dylan Brady, Wuki, Boys Noize, and more, all with a taste of both OG Skrillex and a whole new era.
The album also marks the end of an era, with it being Skrillex's final release under his imprint label 'OWSLA' with Atlantic Records, 15 years after it began with the release of Porter Robinson's "Spitfire".
Skrillex announced the album news less than 24 hours before the release, with an ominous “OUT TOMORROW🚨” post.
It’s got the pure sounds of old-school Skrillex dubstep to techno and EVEN DRUM AND BASS!
If you hadn’t spotted it by now, ‘“Voltage’”, a previously sought-after 2011 tune, finally made its way to the surface. I can almost hear the hyperventilating of the long-time Skrillex fanatics.
Speculation of the new album began around 10 weeks ago when a handwritten letter posted to the legendary producer's Instagram read:
“If you like my music leave me your email at: Skrillex.com/FUS and I’ll send you some things - Sonny Moore <3”
Followed by a pic of the man himself only a week ago captioned: “It’s done🕊️”.
