Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s ‘Back to the Beginning’ gig - which we could be sending you to - is set to have “surprise” performances from huge rockstars.
As if the line up wasn’t already stacked enough... Bands like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool, Gojira, Alice in Chains, and Halestorm are already on the bill for the iconic Villa Park concert.
Plus, artists performing as ‘supergroups’ already include Sammy Hagar, Fred Durst, Tom Morello, Rudy Sarzo, Wolfgang Van Halen, David Draiman, Jake E Lee and more.
Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, who’s taking on the role as musical director for the legendary gig, recently spoke to Australian Musician and revealed that there’s more surprises to come.
When asked how the preparation is going for the gig, Morello said: “Where it’s at now… First of all, when we first sat down, we have a very, very simple goal, and that’s to make this the greatest day in the history of heavy metal.
“And to that end, you’ve probably seen the listed setlist. And let me tell you, there’s some huge superstars who are gonna be surprises on that day too. So, the idea is to really acknowledge the importance of that band in a way that the whole world will forever know it.”
Unreal.
Morello also spoke about what it means to him to be a part of Ozzy Osbourne’s last-ever gig.
“Heavy metal is the music that made me love music, and Black Sabbath invented heavy metal,” he said.
“And Ozzy Osbourne, by discovering the guitarist Randy Rhoads, created, through Randy Rhoads, the music that inspired me to practice eight hours a day. So, I owe a great debt to Ozzy and to Black Sabbath. And it’s an honour to be a part of it.”
It’s no surprise that tickets for Back to the Beginning sold out super quick, but we've got your chance to witness this gig in the flesh!
We could be sending you and a mate over there - just listen out for your boarding call between 6am and 6pm, be the first caller through, and you’re in the draw. Pretty fkn epic, if we do say so ourselves.
