Taylor Swift responds to accusations she's pops biggest polluter taking 170 private jet flights

Co2 Emissions (Taylor's version)

A recent report claimed that Taylor Swift has already used her private jet 170 times this year. If that is true it would mean that in just seven months the pop star had created more emissions than 1,184 average people would emit in a year. And, of course, the internet has dragged her for it!

But Taylor's people couldn't let these accusations burn through Twitter without defending her. A spokesperson for the pop star recently told Buzzfeed: "Taylor's jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect."

And whilst many fans have taken to social media to vent their frustrations about the hypocrisy of celebrity 'climate criminals', one Tiktok user has reluctantly defended Taylor Swift.

She argued that Taylor Swift's private jet was probably being charted when the pop star was not using it, saying "she would have to be taking 1 - 1.5 flights every 1-1.5 day and refuelling".

Those numbers might make sense if Taylor Swift was on a global stadium tour, but considering that the artist is not touring right now, it is extreme to imagine any person would take that many casual flights.

Fans have also commented on how. suspicious. it is this report was released just days after Kylie Jenner received huge backlash for taking a 17 minute private jet flight to avoid a short drive.

It's not hard to see why people pissed-off at celebrities making unnecessary private jet flights when every day people are dealing with heat waves, flooding and lettuce costing $7.00.

Some of the responses from fans have been hilarious, if a little depressing.

The climate anxiety is getting to all of us, even the swifties!

Whether or not Taylor Swift is still taking flights amongst all this controversy we don't know, but her private plane appears to be in use. The Twitter account 'Celebrity Jets' posted yesterday about Taylor's jet flying from Albany, New York to Nashville Tennessee (where Taylor owns a home).

Celebrity Jets makes automated posts about the movement of celebrity private jets using publicly available flight data, and it is an eye opening scroll.

Meanwhile, I'm patting myself on the back for using bar shampoo. One less bottle in the ocean, guys!
