King Charles' strange ‘on air' video has people confused – here’s what’s really happening

“Is the King dropping a podcast?”

Today, the Royal Family’s official X account dropped a 28-second teaser captioned: “Coming soon” with the 👀 emoji, and honestly, we have so many questions.

It kicks off with the most British-looking band ever playing in front of Buckingham Palace, before Bob Marley’s ‘Could You Be Loved’ takes over as a drone shot zooms through the palace.

The camera eventually lands on a desk with an ‘On Air’ sign before in struts King Charles sitting behind the sign as it lights up.

The video ends with a black screen that just says “Coming Soon”.

Naturally, the internet went wild over the random nature of the video for the royals.

“Oh no, he's starting a podcast, isn't he? 🫠,” said one X user.

“Is the King dropping a podcast?” Asked another.

A third wrote: “The podcast King...love it!!”

But it’s since been confirmed that while we are getting a peek behind the royal curtain, it’s not a tell-all from Charles.

Instead, BBC revealed the Royal is launching a personal playlist of music that lifts his sprits and brings back important memories, including of course, Bob Marley, Kylie Minogue.

Turns out, it’s all part of a collab with Apple Music to celebrate music from Commonwealth countries.

So, while we won’t be hearing Charles spill any family drama, we will get to judge his music taste.

"Throughout my life, music has meant a great deal to me," the King says in the video launching the project.

"It has that remarkable ability to bring happy memories flooding back from the deepest recesses of our memory, to comfort us in times of sadness, and to take us to distant places.

But perhaps, above all, it can lift our spirits to such a degree, and all the more so when it brings us together in celebration.

"In other words, it brings us joy."

Apparently, King Charles’ full playlist - plus some royal commentary on why he rates these tracks - will be revealed on Monday.
