MAFS AU: Jacqui Burfoot says 'justice is coming' amid claims of 'human rights breaches'

Production are already facing two official investigations.

Is the end of ‘Married At First Sight Australia’ nearing? Fans reckon it might be, after this year’s outspoken cast slammed the production process for going “against their human rights".

Two official investigations have been launched into the Channel Nine show and its production company, EndemolShine Australia, following major revelations in recent weeks.

Now, Kiwi-born bride Jacqui Burfoot has come forward, detailing the “human rights” violations she believes were “breached” during filming.

In a TikTok video yesterday, she listed several concerns, claiming contestants were required to wear a mic while using the loo and were placed under strict lockdown conditions.

“Justice is coming,” she captioned her post, before saying: “There’s hope for us, ESA (EndemolShine Australia) are being investigated.”

“Apparently, I heard through the grapevine that John Walsh - MAFS Exec Producer - has resigned.”

We must note that, as it stands, there are currently no reports to back up this claim.

Jacqui continued: “They’re investigating all of the breaches of human rights, including little things like they record us when we use the toilet.”

“They force us to have mics on when we take a sh*t and they listen to us and we don’t have a choice.”

She also compared the experience to being in lockdown.

“We’re not allowed to leave after certain hours, and if you do break the rules, they make the rules even stricter, which is called coercive control.”

“There’s gaslighting, there’s abusive men on the show,” she adds, claiming: “you’re basically threatened the whole entire time.”

Good luck to them, ‘cause it’s f***ing criminal what they do.

ICYMI - After groom Paul Antoine punched a wall during an argument with his on-screen wife, Carina Mirabile, NSW Police confirmed they were taking a closer look at the show’s production.

Police released a statement, saying: “The matter has been referred to officers from South Sydney Police Area Command, who have commenced an investigation.”

Since then, reports say SafeWork NSW kicked off a wider investigation into the show’s production on March 7th after multiple contestants shared complaints.

While authorities carry out their investigations, MAFS Funny podcast host Joshua Fox has been digging into the situation himself.

He claims “things are more f***ed than we ever realised”.

“The negligence, the failure of the duty of care, even the threats that I have personally had from producers of the show.”

“Everything I have found starts with executive producer Tara McWilliams.”

Last year, Tara told Daily Mail there’s no such thing as a bad edit.

“We don't manufacture storylines or characters,” she said. “What you see is a reflection of absolutely what's happened on the show.”

According to Fox, SafeWork NSW has started interviewing participants individually and plans to reach out to all cast members, as well as request unedited footage from EndemolShine Australia on Wednesday.

Fans have been reacting to the sudden serious nature of the investigations, with one writing on TikTok: “It’s time for MAFs to be cancelled.”

“Time to boycott MAFS,” said another. “It’s not okay to normalise this.”

A third said it’s “time to name and shame the real villains.”

Applications are currently open for Married At First Sight 2026, but with the ongoing investigations, will this mark the decline of the dating experiment?

It’s a bit of a waiting game now.
