Awhina Rutene’s twin, Cleo, has leaked her audition tape to show just how mismatched Awhina was with this year’s 'MAFS AU' villain.
It’s no secret that the tension between Awhina and her on-screen hubby Adrian Araouzou has ramped up – especially after the awful watch that was the couple’s family and friends week ep.
And if there’s one thing we learned from that shitshow, it’s that Cleo will ride or die for her twin sister.
So, to prove that Awhina isn’t the problem – even though it’s quite literally only Adrian who has it twisted – Cleo has leaked her sister's self-filmed audition tape that she submitted when first applying for the show.
“Whoopsie daisy,” Cleo captioned her post. Oh, how we LOVE a messy kween.
In the video, Awhina revealed it was actually her mum who pushed her to apply for the show after she decided to jump back on the horse and search for Mr Right.
Having left a nearly 15 year long relationship with her high school sweetheart and the father of her son, Awhina was hoping the experts would find her perfect match.
Now, this sweet woman really said that she felt “scared and intimidated” about the thought of applying for the show before she’d even returned to the dating scene.
“But then I thought, how great would it be if someone found me the perfect guy and I didn’t have to waste another 14 years?" She said.
I don’t want to go hook up with people and I know it’s lazy, but gosh, I don’t want to have to filter through so many people just to find the right guy.
So the experts watched that and really thought Adrian – the guy who, off the bat, said he doesn’t know if he can love a child that isn’t his, later texted and met up with another bride, and then sat back as his sisters and best mate tore his wife to shreds – was that person for her?! REALLY?
Cleo’s leak has sparked a heated response from 'MAFS' fans in the comments.
“The ‘experts’ watched this and were like, ‘perfect, a gorgeous girl with a pure soul who is genuine. Let’s CRUSH her for the plot’ 😠,” one person said.
Another wrote: “That man dimmed her light sm! She deserves the cream of the crop ✨✨✨.”
“I can’t believe it. You can feel the purity and good intentions beaming right out of her, and they chose a boy like Adrian… I’m so guttered for her😭.”
Now, of course, we all know by now 'MAFS' is heavily edited to ramp up the drama and tension between the couples.
However, even without the most shocking moments we’ve seen between Awhina and Adrian, it’s crystal clear these two haven’t been on the same page from day one.
I guess now, it’s just a matter of seeing if they stick it out and go the distance, or if the two call it quits in the next few weeks.
