Oscars 2025: Mick Jagger takes the mick out of Bob Dylan with spot on impression

"I'm younger than Bob, I'll do it."

Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger made an appearance at the 97th Academy Awards to present the Oscar for Best Original Song.

While the rock legend said he was "honoured" to be there, he also revealed he "wasn't the first choice".

"The producers really wanted Bob Dylan to do this," he said.

"Bob didn't want to do it," he added, "because he said the best songs this year were obviously in the movie 'A Complete Unknown'," referring to the biopic about Dylan's life, starring Timothee Chalamet.

Mimicking Bob's iconic voice, Jagger continued: "Bob said…'you should find somebody younger'. And I said 'okay I'm younger! I'm younger than Bob, I'll do it.' So here I am."

At 81 years old, Jagger only has a few years on Dylan, who will be turning 84 in May.

29-year-old Chalamet, who spent years honing his portrayal of Dylan, appeared to enjoy Jagger's attempt.

'A Complete Unknown' is nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay. Bob Dylan is an executive producer on the film, and even acted out his entire role in the movie before he gave the script the green light.

Before the awards ceremony began, Jagger caused a stir when he arrived at the Pre-Oscar Awards dinner with his 37-year-old partner, ballet dancer Melanie Hamrick, some 44 years his junior.

The pair reportedly met in 2014 when Jagger was on tour, and the pair welcomed their son, Jagger's eighth child, in 2016.
