‘Biggest mistake’: Ozzy Osbourne missed out on starring in Pirates of the Caribbean

Ozzy would've nailed the part, too.

Ozzy Osbourne almost took part in the Pirates Of The Caribbean film franchise, but unfortunately, the ship sailed without him.

Speaking on The Magnificent Others podcast with Billy Corgan, Ozzy’s wife and manager Sharon admitted that turning down the role was the biggest mistake she made for her husband.

“Do you want to know the biggest mistake I ever made with Ozzy?” Sharon asked The Smashing Pumpkins frontman.

"He got offered to go and read for Pirates Of The Caribbean, and I've never said this to anyone, and I said no. Now wouldn't he have been perfect? Because when Johnny [Depp] wanted Keith [Richards] to be a pirate, you remember?"

Sharon was referring to the role ultimately going to Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards, who played Captain Teague in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End and On Stranger Tides.

Richards starred alongside Johnny Depp as the drunken Captain Jack Sparrow, and Beatle’s Paul McCartney featured as Jack Sparrow's singing uncle, Uncle Jack, in Dead Men Tell No Tales.

While Ozzy missed out on a role in one of the five existing Pirate's movies, there are plans for the franchise to continue - with two continuation films said to be in development as well as a spin-off film; meaning there’s still a chance the Black Sabbath frontman could yet appear in the series.

But for now, I’m sure Ozzy’s focusing on his upcoming Back to the Beginning concert with Black Sabbath and a stack of other artists and bands.
