Jay and Dunc are huge fans of a good movie or TV binge. Most days of the week, they run their ‘Must Watch/Listen/Read’ segment. So, this idea came naturally.
Yesterday on-air, they got you lot to send in your five favourite movies or TV shows, and we’ve smacked ‘em all into one big ‘Watch List’ of the top 50.
A couple of ya mistook movies for TV shows, so we whacked them in for ya ;)
We’d be here all day if we broke down every single one, so here are some of the standout picks:
Breaking Bad: a five-season-long drama about how a high school chemistry teacher who, after a cancer diagnosis, starts cooking meth to pay off his medical debts… and ends up becoming a full-blown drug kingpin.. (What a f*cking plot!)
The Sopranos: A mafia boss juggles the challenges of leading a criminal organisation with family life and mental health struggles. A proper classic, if you’ve not already binged.
Money Heist: An unusual group of criminals executes meticulously planned heists across all five seasons of this thriller. (This one had me locked in for every episode.)
Outrageous Fortune: A real Kiwi gem. This New Zealand comedy-drama is about a family with a criminal background - proud traditions in thievery, larceny and petty crime - trying to turn their lives around.
Drive to Survive: A documentary series, with six seasons, offering an inside look at the world of Formula 1 racing and its bloody high stakes.
Yellowstone: A modern Western drama about the Dutton family, who own the largest ranch in Montana, navigating land disputes and family dynamics. Its prequels, 1883 and 1923, also made the list.
Sherlock: A modern-day take on Sherlock Holmes, following the brilliant detective and his partner, Dr. Watson.
The Office (US): Surely no intro is needed for this one? A mockumentary-style sitcom about the everyday lives of office employees at a mundane paper company. (Bloody hilarious, that’s all.)
So if you’re stuck for something to watch, look no further.
