It’s the biggest night in Hollywood, and Adam Sandler, of course, dressed up for the occasion, right? Yeah, nahhh.
Host Conan O'Brien took the first moments of the 97th Academy Awards to take the absolute piss out of Sandler's outfit.
Sporting his usual casual attire, Sandler rocked a blue zip-up hoodie, basketball shorts and sneakers.
“Adam, what’re you wearing?” Conan asked.
“Nobody even thought about what I was wearing until you brought it up,” Adam replied.
“You’re dressed like a guy playing video poker at 2am, Adam,” Conan joked.
“You know what, Conan? I like the way I look because I’m a good person. I don’t care about what I wear or what I don’t wear,” Adam stood his ground.
He called Conan out on mocking him in front of his peers and jokingly threatened to leave the ceremony.
But not before taking the piss out of himself.
“You are all welcome to join me for a 5-on-5 game of basketball…”
This isn’t the first time Sandler’s had a bit of beef with the Oscars. Back in 2020, after getting snubbed for 'Uncut Gems', he made sure to let them know how he felt.
While accepting the award for 'Best Male Lead' at the 35th Film Independent Spirit Awards, he didn’t hold back.
“A few weeks back, when I was quote-unquote snubbed by the Academy, it reminded me of when I briefly attended high school and was overlooked for the coveted yearbook superlative category Best Looking.”
He continued: “That accolade was given to a jean-jacket-wearing featherhead douchebag by the name of Skipper Jenkins. But my classmates did honour me with the allegedly less-prestigious designation of Best Personality.”
“So let all those featherhead douchebag motherf**kers get their Oscars tomorrow night! Their handsome good looks will fade in time, while our independent personalities will shine on forever!”
So, was his Oscars 'walkout' this year yet another dig at the Academy? Or just Sandler being Sandler? Either way, the man doesn’t miss when it comes to taking the piss.
