Does healthy chocolate exist? Here's a delicious 4-ingredient recipe that says yes

You might already have everything you need in the pantry.

Is there such a thing as 'healthy chocolate'? It's hard to believe, but one woman has shared her recipe claiming to be better for you than your usual sweet treat.

Linda Duncan generously shared her recipe on Kiwi website The World's Easiest Recipe, and it's said to be free from refined sugar and unhealthy fats.

You'll need just four ingredients: coconut oil, cocoa (or cacao) powder, pure maple syrup, and optional vanilla extract. These are often considered healthier than what you find in a typical chocolate bar.

Here's Linda's take on a 'healthy chocolate' alternative if you're looking to make a sweet treat with what you might already have stored at home.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup coconut oil

  • 1 cup cocoa (or cacao) powder

  • ½ cup pure maple syrup

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Method:

  • Grease and line the bottom of a loaf tin or a similar-sized container.

  • Place the coconut oil in a jug and melt in the microwave in 30-second bursts until just melted.

  • Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup and vanilla and stir for 2 minutes or until the mixture is well combined.

  • Pour into the prepared tin and place in the fridge to set.

  • Cut and store in the fridge.

Tip: Linda suggests pouring your mixture into single moulds to avoid the hassle of cutting up a whole tray into bite-size pieces.

She also suggests adding chopped nuts and fruit for an extra bite to the sweet treat. Those of us who love a black forest bar will definitely be up for that.
