Ash Galati is the latest former ‘Married At First Sight Australia’ groom to make headlines for jumping into action to help a stranger within the space of a few days.
According to Daily Mail Australia, the reality TV star found himself rushing to the scene of a Melbourne car crash on Monday, where he pulled the driver from the flipped vehicle.
He told the outlet he’d been parked on the side of the road when he witnessed the accident unfold just metres away.
“I pulled over to make a phone call, and this car smashed into the lady driver in front of me and totally flipped right next to my window,” he recalled.
[The car] literally could have landed on top of me.
Without hesitation, the 2024 MAFS groom jumped into action and ran to the male driver involved.
“I jumped out instantly, ran to the flipped car to check if the person was alive. He was, so I pulled him out,' he said.
The details of the crash are minimal, but images obtained by Daily Mail show the flipped car with fluid leaking out onto the road.
Ash’s heroic act comes just days after fellow former groom Timothy Smith also made headlines after chasing down a machete-wielding teen who attempted a carjacking earlier this week.
Tim witnessed the incident and managed to detain a 14-year-old boy until police arrived, and later arrested the teen.
He explained it all happened right outside his house and that he witnessed the teen wielding a machete and attempting a carjacking just 100 metres down the road.
“It was sad that they decided to do that, and terrifying for the person they tried to carjack. We all make mistakes, but this affects somebody else.”
In saying that, I just hope that getting caught is his chance to make a change.
Tim added that, thankfully, no one was hurt and said he hopes the teen reflects on his actions.
If I had a dollar for every time a former MAFS groom stepped in to help in a dangerous situation, we’ll I’d have two bucks this week - but still, it’s odd to have happened twice in such a short space of time, right?!
