Teacher aide praised for incredibly detailed wheelchair-friendly waka costume

She really does go the extra mile!

A teacher aide is being celebrated for making the most epic wheelchair-friendly costumes for her student, Cassius.

Cassius’ mum, Courtney Naera, shared a video of the genius costume created by teacher aide Faith - a self-paddling waka made from cardboard.

“When your son’s teacher aide always makes the best costumes 😍,” Courtney captioned her TikTok video.

As Cassius’ wheels rotate, the waka appears to self-paddle. Faith even looks the part, navigating as the steering guide for Cassius’ boat.

Cassius has diagnosed lissencephaly, a rare brain disorder.

Courtney’s video has now racked up over 308,000 views and hundreds of comments of love for Faith’s creative ways to make sure Cassius feels included.

“You are so lucky to have a teacher take that time for your baby!!!!! This is so beautiful,” said one commenter.

“DEFINITELY chosen her correct path 💜 She's pretty awesome for that,” added another.

A third added: “Ataahua mahi whaea!! [It is] so awesome to see all our mokopuna looked after.”

“Teachers like this make all the difference🥰,” a fourth agreed.

This isn’t the only costume Faith has crafted up for Cassius. Courtney shared the incredible bulldozer made for Cassius to be included in his school’s production.

Or the steam train Cassius conducted on book dress-up day, thanks to Faith.

As Courtney wrote, Faith always goes the extra mile to make sure Cassius has the best costumes.

Teachers are so important and Faith is truly one in a million!
