“It's an unforgettable moment of pure mana.”

Stan Walker’s reaction to a beautiful surprise haka is being described as “breathtaking”.

The special moment took place at the closing of the Birrarangga Film Festival on March 18th, where Stan performed live for the event.

The festival, which celebrates Indigenous films from around the world, took place in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia.

It was only fitting that Stan was honoured with a haka from the Melbourne-based rōpū Te Whare Haka O Nārama.

The festival shared the moment on Instagram, calling it “an unforgettable moment of pure mana.”

“The power of kapa haka, the depth of connection, and the legacy of First Nations excellence - this was history in the making.”

Stan’s raw, emotional reaction to the haka and the moment he heard the call was palpable. You could feel the wave of emotion that washed over him.

Te Whare Haka O Nārama also posted a heartfelt message to Stan: “Your spirit and work uplift so many. Thank you deeply for being an unwavering role model and for sharing your love with us all.”

“The mana in the room was undeniable. Everyone had chills, and many were moved to tears.”

Many viewers of the video felt the emotion of the haka too.

“Here I am crying with strangers on the internet again,” one commenter wrote.

“This gave me full-body goosebumps and so many tears! What a beautiful display of kindness and love. ❤️”

“Pure beauty from a real representative of our beautiful nation. The way he responded to the call of our people - just breathtaking,” another added.

“Love everything about this man 🙌🏾♥️♥️ PROUD TO BE INDIGENOUS, PROUD TO BE A MĀORI ✊🏾,” said a third.
