Viral video of kiwis fighting inspires the best comments on the Internet today

"Wouldn't they find it easier to fight if they took their hands out of their tracksuit pants?"

In today's episode of 'This Is What The Internet Was Truly Made For', incredible footage of two kiwis fighting in broad daylight has people bringing out their best material online.

Kerikeri local Karin Matthews caught the scrap on camera after hearing "strained noises" outside in her garden.

The video made its way online - as this kind of thing should - and the reactions have been absolute gold.

While some questioned "is this even real?" or wondered if AI was involved (spoiler: it wasn't), others honed in on how the display highlighted the kiwi's lack of arms or wings - or even "nubs", as one person put it.

"Lucky they are unarmed," one person wrote, while another suggested the pair would find it easier to fight if they "took their hands out of their tracksuit pants".

"I don't know what I was expecting, but not frat boy chest bumps," said another.

The birds, who may have been males fighting over territory, were compared to "3-year-olds", "baby dinosaurs", "avocados" and even "David Seymour and Winston Peters".

Others wondered if someone should tell the kiwi they were endangered, while one noted: "Evolution really f*cked these guys".

One person made an astute observation: "They have spears on their faces and they choose to kick each other."

The international community dubbed the video "the most Kiwi thing ever" (which is hard to argue with) but one comment may have summed up the general sentiment the best: "I didn't know that I needed to see this today but I love it."
