The Mai whānau got a special unexpected treat this week when the 'OG's of the Mai Morning Crew came together on air for the first time in years.
Tegan was away, and with Fame off sick (with his fourth food poisoning of the year), it was just going to be Nickson holding it down.
Instead of running the ship alone, he decided to call Nate and ask him if he could join him for the rest of the show. Half an hour later, Nate was back in the studio where it all began.
Just when the boys took everyone back to the old days, it got even better. One thing led to another, and Lily joined the boys, too. And suddenly, we had the OG MMC - Nickson, Lily, and Nate back on air like before.
It’s been six years since Lily left Mai and Aotearoa, so the boys took the chance to catch up with their sis, who’s been absolutely thriving overseas.
“Good to hear your voice, Nate. How did you weasel your way in this morning?” Lily asked.
“Funny thing is, I reckon, it’s gonna be ugly when I walk out of here,” Nate said.
“No one knows that he turned up. I just rang him up,” Nickson said.
It wasn’t just a surprise to you, Mai whānau, like Nickson said, "‘no one"’ knew about this reunion, not even our boss. He only found out when he tuned in to the show while driving in to work.
As much as we loved this spontaneous reunion, the Mai whānau loved it even more.
“I thought I was dreaming!!" one commented. "I absolutely loved having y'all back!!!”
Another called it “the reunion we all needed.”
“Bruh, today's show was good for the soul man," a third said. " Legit love the team.”
