Crazy food combos are nothing new - remember doughnut burgers and taco ramen? But these new franken-snacks from Domino's, Weet-bix and Doritos definitely are.
Did Weet-bix really need to get chocolatey on us? Were pizzas and hotdogs ever meant to meet? And since WHEN has anyone needed a coffee flavoured chip?
Here at The Edge HQ, we tried these new offerings so you don't have to - and you can decide if you even want to.
Domino's Pizza Dog
If you're looking to up your hot dog game, Domino's may have the menu item of your dreams. OR your nightmares.
The Pizza Dogs comes with a "piping hot Kransky-style sausage, drizzled with tomato sauce and baked in a fresh dough bun, loaded with gooey cheese sauce."
They go for $3.50, or you can get two for $6.50, so they definitely tick the box in terms of being budget-friendly.
You can also add bacon and mustard for an extra $2.50 to jazz it up.
Question is though, is it any good?
"I prefer having the pizza base over a hot dog bun," Jacob from the office said. "I'm also surprised at how filling it is."
Some were less enthused, with Bella noticing "It's not the best hot dog I've ever had, but you can't be mad because of the affordable price point."
The team agrees it's the ideal snack for those with some pocket change looking for a quick fix. Who said hot dogs don't go on pizza?
Weet-bix Coco Crunch
Weet-bix has come through for those who want a choccy fix at 7 am without judgement or shame.
The new bite-sized cereal bits claim to have "the goodness of wholegrains with tasty choc pieces for a moreish meal." These beauties also have a 4-star health rating, meaning you don't have the guilt of demoing a sweet treat for breakfast.
Georgia said: "I would 100% buy this if I wanted chocolate cereal for breakfast but wanted to feel healthy. It's giving muesli bar vibes."
Taylor says the key is "using warm milk for the best results" pointing out "it's nowhere near as sweet as I was expecting". It may be a letdown for those with a raging sweet tooth - so stick with coco pops if you're wanting a sugary kick.
Those who tried were all in agreement - why hadn't Weet-bix thought of this sooner?
Coffee Flavoured Doritos
I know what you're thinking..WHY?
Doritos' limited edition Coffee Flavoured chips caused mass hysteria around our office. Who would EVER think of combining these two?!
They're meant to be a "as a remedy for 3 pm slump cravings", the chip combines sweet and salty flavours that you've never experienced before.
Jacob, a self-proclaimed hater of coffee, said "the initial hit of coffee is quite alarming but once you get over the confusion it's surprisingly delicious".
Arun said "it doesn't taste how you'd expect it to," adding, "it's strange, but it works."
The reactions around the office ranged from total disgust to some eating a whole bag at their desk at 10 am.
Although coffee-flavoured, these chippies don't have any caffeine in them. So don't expect to replace your iced latte with a bag of these in the morning.
Doritos aren't actually selling this flavour in store, but they will be handing out bags at One Queen Street, Britomart, from 3 pm today. There are only 500 bags available across the country!
These combos truly show you can't knock it until you try it. What's next? Pineapple on Pizza?
