Tāmaki Makarau was lucky enough to host the 2025 Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix on Sat 15th of Feb, where our very own Showboss Tiegs and Honeybone from nights competed.
Both have “always wanted to do the Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix”, so when it came back to NZ for the first time in 10 years, they “knew they had to be a part of it.”
The Red Bull Trolley Grand Prix event sees amateur drivers bring their own outlandish ‘wacky-wheeled’ creations to the streets. The event was held in the Auckland domain, and was fully NZ themed. All of the best NZ sights were recreated in this epic track.
Show Boss Tiegs and Jack Honeybone entered on behalf of The Rock with an interislander inspired trolley, dubbed ‘The Rock Islander’, which was built by Daniel Bray from N-ZED Motorsport.
The Rock Islander was what dreams are made of, with a slick white, blue and red design. It was the perfect Rock-esque twist on the classic Interislander look.

What looked even cooler? The epic all blue fits that Tiegs and Honeybone were kitted out in. Talk about ‘dressing to the occasion’.

The day was an absolute beauty, the Auckland domain packed with punters ready to enjoy a day of racing.
Naturally, the day didn’t always go to plan. Tiegs described how she felt as “bloody nervous.”
“I think I only got 3 hours of sleep the night before.”
And what didn’t help? The Rock Islander suffered a flat tyre right before the line up for their turn. The amendment was a team effort, with one team providing tools, one a tyre puncture kit, camera man Jacob fortuitously having electric tape, and Daniel Bray being there to help.
Despite this nightmare of a challenge, Tiegs and Honeybone impressed at the start line, juggling Red Bull cans to earn 4 9s and a 10.
The Rock Islander flew around the track, taking corners like a champ - especially the tricky ‘crown range’ corner. Honeybone navigated the course with ease, despite Showboss Tiegs almost flying out of the co-pilot seat almost immediately.
Even better, The Rock Islander placed 8th out of 53, with a whopping time of 1:11:912. How bloody good!
We couldn’t be prouder of our very own Tiegs and Honeybone for absolutely smashing this out the park.
