Liam Lawson has been torn to shreds for his outfit worn at the F1 75 season launch at London’s O2 Arena.
What was he wearing? Bianca Censori round two?
Nope, just a regular Kiwi bloke outfit.
While most of his colleagues were dressed to the conventional nines, 23-year-old Lawson pulled up to the red carpet event in what 90% of Kiwi blokes wear on the daily. Honestly, we respect the sh*t out of him for it.
A few punters on the internet unfortunately didn’t quite get the vibe. Commenters on Instagram were quick to wonder if old mate missed the CC on an email, while the New Zealand reddit crowd got a bit more creative with their analysis.
It wasn’t all clever quips as others rushed to Liam’s defense, calling him “skux as” and “a handsome devil.”
We feel that this comment sums it up best: “His job is to drive fast cars, not attend fashion shows.”
This man is a beast behind the wheel; he can wear a flannel and jeans if that’s what he feels most comfortable in.
This will be Lawson’s first year racing for Team Red Bull in F1. He earned the promotion after two impressive stints at Racing Bulls in 2023 and 2024 when he replaced Daniel Riccardo.
Last year, Red Bull surrendered their world constructors’ championship, falling from first to third, so Lawson was acquired to team up with Verstappen and earn their rank back.
And he’ll do it in style.
Lawson described his promotion as a “lifelong dream” for him.
He made his way through their junior program, winning every category he raced on debut: Formula First, Formula Ford, Formula Fur, Formula Three Asia and the Toyota Racing Series.
We can’t wait to see what Lawson achieves this year, and we can’t wait to defend all of his red carpet appearances.
