Ticket sales for this year's Rock 2000 live event broke a record in the first half hour

Well, shit - that escalated quickly.

Earlybird tickets for The Rock 2000 this September just went on sale this morning, and there was never-before-seen levels of hype shown just a few minutes in.

Over 1000 tickets to the show, which will be headlined by Blindspott and a 30-piece orchestra, were snapped up in under half an hour.

This is record-breaking stuff - it's the first time we've ever put tickets for the Rock 2000 live event on sale this early, and it's also the first time they've moved this fast.

"F*ck yeah - this eight-hour show is gonna blow your mind," Rock boss Brad King said.

"it's not surprising it's selling so well - and we haven't even dropped the rest of the line up yet - don't f*ck around, get your tickets fast."

Along with a stacked line up of yet-to-be-announced acts, Blindspott will take the stage at Spark Arena on September 26th to perform their debut album in full, backed by the power of the Philharmonic Orchestra.

Last year's Rock 2000 saw the band's monster hit 'Nil By Mouth' reach the number two spot on the countdown, something the boys said was a "massive achievement".

Chatting to The Morning Rumble after news of this year's gig dropped, Blindspott's drummer Shelton Woolright said he was "actually quite nervous" about the "career highlight" show.

"We have to nail it because we've got these professional musicians behind us - they're going to be wicked to play with," he said.

Singer Damian Alexander said classical instruments feature quite a lot in their songwriting, but he "never thought" he'd be performing on stage with a live orchestra.

As well as all the live performances, Jay and Dunc will host the Top 20 Live Ceremony and there'll be heaps of other epic shit to get amongst.

The gig sold out in 2024, and is expected to do the same this time around.
