There’s a new Metallica documentary on the way, and this one’s all about the fans.
The film, titled Metallica Saved My Life, will explore how the band has helped shape fans’ lives, delving into personal stories from people within the fanbase. Of course, all four band members will also feature in the documentary, and so will Metallica fan and king-of-side-quests Jason Momoa.
The documentary will “explore the world of Metallica through the lives of their fans—including the bandmembers themselves—who have supported each other through highs, lows, trials, and triumphs for over four decades,” says an official description.
The award-winning Jonas Åkerlund, who directed Metallica’s Whiskey in the Jar, Turn The Page, and Manunkind, is directing the forthcoming documentary, which was officially announced by Metallica this morning (April 9).
Metallica’s official social media accounts released a tease trailer for the doco, where you can hear James Hetfield say “every fan has a story,” before flicking to various fans talking about their different experiences being a Metallica fan.
“Enter the world of Metallica through the lives of the fans,” the tease trailer tells us.
An unfinished version of Metallica Saved My Life will be playing in theatres across the USA and Canada from April to June, with the full documentary set to come out later this year.
Oo-oh Yeah!
