From mean feeds, to beach walks, to party spots: The Mai team share their Auckland happy places

*saves to notes for weekend*

We all know Tamaki Makaurau is packed with beautiful beaches, mean cafes, places to party and hang out spots, but it can be tough to narrow it down to the best of the best.

Don't worry fam, we gotchu. Inspired by Eerik – the quirky Finn from the happiest place in the world – we're asking our Mai team where they find their happiness right here in Aotearoa's biggest city.

Randy

My happy place for huge vibes in Tamaki Makaurau is First Thursdays on K Road. The first Thursday of every month they shut down the street, play live music and have cool markets running. Other elite spots for a night out are Caravanserai, Ghost Donkey and Crown Nightclub - they're just all fun places where all my mates hangout. To be honest I could spend all day at Caravanserai, it's literally mine and my mates' favourite spot in the city. You can catch us there seven days a week.

Desch

My happy place for a feed in Auckland for food is Sam Woo's in Otahuhu. Great prices and amazing food. The dish I would recommend getting is the pork on rice. For Sunday morning breakfast, catch me at the Gaff cafe in Mangere Bridge. You can grab yourself some great coffee and the customer service is exceptional.

Tegan

My favourite walk in Auckland is the Mercer Bay loop - one of the best coastal walks near Piha. You get a great hikoi in, and get to take in some of the most stunning views Aotearoa has to offer! If you want to experience both the urban vibe and natural beauty of Auckland in one day, head to the Takapuna boat ramp, grab a coffee and go for a beach walk, simple.

Storme

My happy place is Chamberlain Golf Course. There's no place I'd rather spend $20 to lose five golf balls and leave more disappointed in myself, whilst also being in good company with my friends than Chamberlain Golf Course. Auckland's cheapest course to play a round of 18, and at some point realise golf isn't for you.
