We’ve been backing our Black Ferns through an incredible few years of proving they know how to rule the field, but where’s our support for the Super Rugby Aupiki competition?
Talented Blues and Black Ferns player Katelyn Vaha'akolo has shared a message urging New Zealanders to rally behind the competition - with a tempting offer involved.
On her Instagram Stories, Katelyn wrote: “If you look at the crowds at our Aupiki games - there’s no crowds because not many people come, LOL.”
Any support we receive helps grow our game and the future of women’s rugby.
“So, if you are able, please come to a game, promote it on socials, or invite your fam/friends,” she added, encouraging more support.
To help bring bigger crowds to games, Katelyn made a promise of her own.

“I will volunteer to visit any school, rugby training, or sports team in Auckland if you can bring your team, club, or family to a game.”
She clarified that it doesn’t even have to be for her team - the Blues - just any Aupiki game to celebrate the incredible wāhine on the field.
“If you do, message me and we can organise something,” she finished.
It’s no secret that it’s been a tough start to the season in terms of crowd numbers for Aupiki teams, but Katelyn’s offer might just tempt more supporters to put more bums in seats - whether they actually take her up on it or not.
We’ve backed our wāhine in black through the Olympics and World Cups, so we know the love is there.
It’s about making an effort and showing up for the sport, even throughout the Aupiki competition.
So, why not message the group chat right now and lock in a game to head to? Katelyn is surely waiting on a few DMs.
