Liam Lawson has released a statement following the confirmation Red Bull have officially demoted him.
"Being a Red Bull Racing driver has been my dream since I was a kid," he began. "It’s what I’ve worked towards my whole life."
It’s tough, but I'm grateful for everything that’s brought me to this point.
" To every one of you who’s stood by me, thank you for all the support it means the world," he added. "Thank you @visacashapprb for the warm welcome, I’m excited and ready to go to work at one of my favourite places."
Despite the set back, we're still backing him through it all.
The Formula One team shared the news overnight, announcing Yuki Tsunoda will replace Lawson and join Max Verstappen from the Japanese Grand Prix moving forward.
Red Bull Team Principal Christian Honer said: "We came into the 2025 season with two ambitions - to retain the world drivers championship and to reclaim the world constructors title."
This is a purely sporting decision.
Earlier this week speculation circulated after Netherland newspaper ‘De Telegraaf’ reported Lawson may be dropped from the team.
It was reportedly due to Lawson’s underwhelming performances in the first two rounds. He qualified 18th for the Australian Grand Prix before spinning out and crashing, then slipped to a distant 12th in China.
Last year, Red Bull dropped from first to third, losing their world drivers’ championship title to McLaren.
Lawson’s demotion marks the shortest stint for a Red Bull driver in history, with Horner insisting they have a “duty of care” for the Kiwi.
