The Upcoming Season Of The Block NZ Has Been Axed - What Will Happen To The Houses Now?

The winners of The Block Redemption made the lowest profit in 10 years.

The 11th season of the Block NZ has been canceled for good due to New Zealand's "challenging housing market"

The next season was set to be produced in Browns Bay after being put on hold in November 2022. Four townhouses were primed and ready for contestants, and are now set to be finished and sold off-camera amid the show's cancellation.

The decision comes as Warner Bros. Discovery undertakes major cost-saving measures, having already axed The Project NZ last year, with 'The AM Show' and the entirety of Newshub to follow suit on July 5th.

A Warner Bros. Discovery spokesperson elaborated on the end of The Block NZ, saying: "When we announced our business restructure earlier this year, we indicated that WBD would no longer make fully funded local shows, which includes The Block NZ."

The most recent season of The Block NZ aired in 2022, where contestants on The Block Redemption made the lowest profit in 10 years. Winners Chloe Hes and Ben Speedy sold their house for just $4,000 over the reserve.

While Kiwi Block fans are bound to be disappointed by the news, The Block Australia has been confirmed by Channel 9, giving viewers their DIY fix with a 20th season this August.
