Brian Johnson and Lady Gaga sing AC/DC song together in new Carpool Karaoke episode

We didn’t have this on our 2024 bingo card, but AC/DC’s Brian Johnson recently joined Lady Gaga on a new Carpool Karaoke festive special.

The special episode was released on Apple TV earlier this week, where fellow Kiwi Zane Lowe features as the host in place of usual host James Corden. The episode featured singers Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga and Chappel Roan respectively as they have a yarn and sing some songs with Lowe while driving around.

During Lady Gaga’s part of the episode, she talks to Lowe about how her late grandmother loved rock music, and shares a clip of her grandmother singing the AC/DC Bon Scott-era tune ‘Highway to Hell.’

In classic Carpool Karaoke fashion, Lowe tells Lady Gaga he needs to make a stop, before AC/DC’s Brian Johnson hops into the car to Gaga’s surprise.

“I got you Brian Johnson for Christmas,” Lowe tells Gaga, before she and Johnson launch into ‘Highway to Hell’ together, with Lowe joining in for the chorus.

The three have a chat after singing the tune, where Gaga reveals she actually appeared in an AC/DC music video when she was a teenager.

"You wanna hear something funny? I was in the 'Stiff Upper Lip' video," Gaga says.

"I was 17 and I was an extra in the back. I was headbanging and they were, like, 'Hmmm. Don't headbang. We want it to be modern.' And I was, like, 'No. There's only one move that I can do'."

You can see her appear around the 2:27 minute mark.

Elsewhere in the episode, Lady Gaga also performed Led Zeppelin’s 1971 song Black Dog.

As for AC/DC, they're set to embark on their North American stadium tour in April and May next year, with guests The Pretty Reckless joining them.
