Kmart NZ is recalling their popular baby toy ‘soft activity ball’ over a serious choking hazard.
In a Facebook announcement, the store said: "The product may not comply with the mandatory standard for toys for children up to and including 36 months of age, The plastic dome containing the small balls can separate from the product creating small parts."
They went on to explain the risk involved in the recall was that the small parts could result in “serious injury or death from choking if young children put the small balls in their mouth.”
The affected product to look out for is the ‘Anko Soft Activity Ball’ sold at Kmart NZ stores around the country between August, 3rd, 2024 and October 18th, 2024.
If you own this ball you can get a full refund. Kmart advises to “immediately cease use” and return the ball to your nearest store with or without a receipt.
Earlier this week, Kmart made their voluntary recall on the Christmas-themed bedding that caused hospitalisations in Australia official in New Zealand.
Commenters on Facebook have been warning each other and sharing their frustrations on the numerous recalls.
One wrote: “Oh man another one, I have this and will return it.”
“Another product recall? What's next? The baby dolls will come alive at night?” said another.
While some people are calling out the store for having numerous recalls in the last week, others are sharing their grateful safety is being made a priority.
“Come on guys, if Kmart are doing product recalls well done for the safety of our families,” one commenter wrote. “Don’t knock it. They don’t make all the products so stuff get recalled if they’re faulty. 👍🏻”
They’re right, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
