Metallica just dropped a whole bunch of new tour dates added to their ‘M72 World Tour’ and New Zealand is one of ‘em.
“Finally, North America is not our only stop in 2025, as this year, we will return to Australia and New Zealand after far too long away!!! Stay tuned for the full announcement coming VERY soon.” the announcement said on their official website.
The last time James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo were supposed to have performed in New Zealand was back in 2019.
The band ended up cancelling their tour before reaching our shores, as lead singer James Hetfield had - at the time - checked into a recovery programme to deal with addiction issues.
In their announcement of scrapping their previous NZ dates, the band wrote: “We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.”
Here we are in 2024, and it’s bloody time for their highly anticipated return.
Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies are joining Metallica as support acts for half of the leg, while Limp Bizkit and Ice Nine Kills will join them for another half - although we still don’t have the details on who will be opening for them when they head here. Either way - we’re bloody excited.
Keep your eyes and ears on us for the latest updates on Metallica before they hit NZ shores.
