Kiwis have been left shouting, 'what about us?' after the world-famous Crumbl Cookie announced it's officially opening shop in Australia.
If you’ve been on TikTok at all in the last two weeks, you’ve probably seen the huge Crumbl Cookie scandal that happened across the ditch.
After that shambles, Crumbl founder Sawyer Hemsley confirmed yesterday that the real deal is headed down under for real this time.
He captioned the video announcement: “Australia, we’re coming for you! Get ready to experience the real @Crumbl Cookies 👨🏻🍳🍪 See you soon!”
But it leaves the question… was it all a PR stunt to test the waters? And why are Aussies being rewarded for the ‘scam,’ while NZ waits patiently, begging for a taste?
“NZ might have to do a pop-up Crumbl so they come here too 😂👀👀,” one commenter joked.
A second added that it’s “only a small jump over the ditch to New Zealand”.
“You better come to New Zealand as well,” a third warned. “There will be an outrage if you don’t.”
In case you missed the whole shambles, in late September, a TikTok account called @CrumblSydney promoted a Crumbl pop-up with a now-deleted video captioned: “Crumbl is landing in Australia. 1-day popup. Sunday, 29th of September, 12pm till sold out.”
On the day, hundreds of Aussies lined up at North Bondi, waiting 45 minutes just to pay $17.50 per cookie. Outrage hit when people realised Crumbl actually had no affiliation with the pop-up.
Nope, though the cookies were the real deal, they’d been bought in the US, flown to Sydney, and were 4-6 days old when sold to punters.
Crumbl later responded in a statement to People, writing: “While the pop-up in Australia was not sponsored by Crumbl, we love seeing the excitement for Crumbl around the world…We look forward to expanding to other countries in the future.
Here’s hoping Crumbl crosses the ditch to NZ soon because I can’t be the only one craving those ooey-gooey cookies since they first appeared on my FYP.
