Our ol’ mate Bryce has become one of 100 Kiwibank Local Hero medalists this year.
Yesterday (November 21), the winners and medalists for the New Zealander of the Year awards were revealed. The awards are divided into seven categories: Young New Zealander of the Year, Senior New Zealander of the Year, overall New Zealander of the Year, NZ Innovator of the Year, Sustainability Leader of the Year, Community of the Year, and Local Hero of the Year.
Speaking about being a Local Hero medalist on Instagram, Bryce wrote: “Shot New Zealander of the Year, thanks for the nomination this year.
“An accolade like this is not mine though, it’s shared equally with everyone on The Morning Rumble and The Rock - the show and station allow us to use our platform to chat about shit that matters whether it’s mental health, cancer awareness, or just someone who needs a hand up.”
Speaking about our loyal listeners, he said: “Our listeners are so generous and allow us to help those that need it.”
Ending his post with, “Congrats to all the people in the Country who give a f*ck about others and actually try to help, whether you’re recognised or not, it matters.”
Good shit Bryce.
Dr Jim Salinger has been announced as the overall winner this year - a distinguished International Climate Scientist who has been a pioneer in advancing climate science over the last 50 years.
Have a geeze at all of the award categories, and those who were nominated.
What a bloody good reminder that New Zealand is packed with legends doing their bit to make the world a better place.
