New Zealand

These are officially NZ's best 'Family Friendly' Airbnbs to stay in with a big group

Anyone in a group chat with me right now should prepare themselves.

Airbnb just crowned the winners of their annual New Zealand Host Awards for 2024, and their homes look absolutely incredible.

This year, Airbnb introduced a new category - Best Family Friendly Stay - which was awarded to The Big Bach in Paraparaumu, hosted by Kelly.

Set up specially to cater for large groups, The Big Bach can has nine rooms, three bathrooms and sleeps up to 23 people.

It boasts two BBQ areas - one with an outdoor fridge - a 9 person spa pool and an old restored boat in the middle of the deck that you can hang out in.

There's also a games room kitted out with table tennis, air hockey and a darts board.

Here are the four epic homes named finalists in the Best Family Friendly Stay category:

Poolside Family Living with Vineyard Views

A smaller group of eight would live the absolute dream at Sophie's property in Patutahi, Gisborne, which features a beautiful swimming pool and spa overlooking a lush vineyard.

There's a trampoline in the garden, outdoor dining and even chickens to visit and collect fresh eggs from. What more could you want?

Papamoa Family Beach Retreat

This gem is only a couple of minutes walk from Papamoa beach, and your host Gloria even leaves surfboards, boogie boards and beach equipment for you to use.

If you don't feel like getting sandy, there's a pretty stunning mineral salt-water swimming pool to splash about in, and a spa pool to stargaze in later. There's sun loungers set up poolside, as well as a playhouse, sandpit, trampoline and outdoor games.

Weld Retreat Martinborough

Tennis court. Fire pit. Swimming pool. Spa. Basketball hoop. Pool Table. This Wairarapa property is basically a resort.

One reviewer said they "considered themselves very lucky to have had the opportunity to stay there", while another began "WOW! What a spot."

With four double bedrooms, two bathrooms, two living areas and even a pool house with a powder room - Tania's place looks like it will leave you wanting for nothing.

House with Spa, Outdoor Living, Games Room

Matt's house in the Canterbury town of Prebbleton is in the top one percent of Airbnb homes worldwide, and it's not hard to see why.

There's a spa for six, a trampoline for the kids, a 'man cave' with a massage chair, Xbox and a two player arcade machine - just for starters.

The outdoor entertaining area is next level, with a huge fireplace and BBQ/bar area. You'd never need to leave, but the property is near three wedding venues and a bunch of attractions if you do fancy it.

Feels like it could be time to get the gang together and get something locked in for summer!
