Kiwi mum's new app for saving Auckland parents time, stress and cash enters top 10 in NZ charts

"I feel like a tourist in my own town, it's great."

A Kiwi mother has just launched a new app for Auckland parents and it's already climbing the ranks of the app store.

Renata Wiles' Roam With Kids is designed to save parents time, stress and money when planning things to do with their tamariki.

Roam features over 200 spots across Tamaki Makaurau. From playgrounds and pram-friendly walks to indoor activities and family-friendly eateries, Roam seems to be a one-stop shop for family fun.

It doesn't just list locations either. It has a filtering system that allows users to tailor their search based on specific needs like pram accessibility, toilets and change tables, fencing, and indoor or outdoor activities.

The app also features an events calendar with exclusive discounts.

Renata's inspiration for Roam With Kids stemmed from her own journey on Instagram (@renataroaming), where she shared her toddler outings and recommendations on a Google Map.

In just one day of its launch, the app jumped to the 11th position on NZ's Apple App Store charts. By the weekend, it had claimed the 3rd spot on the charts.

In just one week, the app now has reached 1800 downloads since its release on April 25.

Renata understands the "mental load of planning things to do each day can be a lot".

"Auckland has so many amazing child-friendly spots, and I wanted to create something that would give parents the confidence to explore areas of the city they were unfamiliar with and save them time along the way," she said.

Parents already LOVE the app, with one reviewer writing: "So many places I didn't know existed, I feel like a tourist in my own town, it's great."

"As someone not originally from NZ and isn't naturally great at finding new places, I genuinely feel like a better dad because of this app," said another.

While a third added: "This is so brilliant, it's exactly what anyone with littllies needs."

Roam is currently available for iPhone users to download now with Renata promising Android users to get access sometime very soon.
