Liam Payne's ex makes shocking statement about his drug use and sharing photos without consent

"He did things that hurt me in ways I’ll never fully understand."

Liam Payne's former fiancee Maya Henry has made a shocking statement about the late One Direction star four months on from his untimely death.

The American model spoke out about Liam's substance abuse issues and also discussed the "pain" he caused her, both during and after their two-and-a-half year-long relationship.

“This was someone I loved very much," she said in a statement to Rolling Stone

"Initially, it was the drug use and addictions that tore us apart. Anyone who has been with an addict understands how difficult that is.

"While I loved him deeply, he did things that hurt me in ways I’ll never fully understand, and he continued to hurt me years after we broke up," the 23-year-old continued.

"On drugs, he became someone unrecognisable - so different from his sober self. I kept hoping each incident would be a wake-up call for him to get help, but it never was.”

Maya, who alleged on TikTok that Liam had been harassing her and her family in October last year, went on to reveal the toll Liam's issues took on her mentally.

“I let myself believe that love could be stronger than addiction, that if I endured enough if I sacrificed enough, he would see how much I cared and finally choose a different path,” she wrote.

“But that’s not how addiction works. No matter how much I tried to save him, I was drowning in the process.”

Maya also accused the singer of sharing images of her without her knowledge or consent. This was something she had only recently uncovered "the extent of", she said.

"I’m faced with the complexity of grieving for someone I cared so deeply about despite the pain they have caused me."

In May 2024, two years after she and Liam broke up, Maya wrote a book called 'Looking Forward', which fans felt referred to her relationship with the pop star, despite it being a work of fiction. The book told the love story of a boy band member and a model, and detailed drug use and abuse.
