An Ozark spinoff could be on the way and we are fizzing

Spoilers for the final season ahead!!

The story of the Byrde family reached its end last month, but it may not be the end for the Ozark universe.

Chris Mundy, showrunner of the hit TV show has hinted at a possible spin-off series.

"It's definitely something that people have talked about a bunch," he said, "there are still ways to stay inside the show and revisit things." Obviously, after that finale, there are some things that cannot be revisited. (Spoilers ahead!)

Such as the fan favourite character Ruth Langmore, played by Julia Garner who won an Emmy for her efforts on the show, who met her demise in the show's finale. No doubt a spinoff with Ruth would've been wildly popular, but Mindy says he's proud of how the Netflix show wrapped up. "It was really important for me to end this show. This is the work we did, we did our best and we hope people like it," he said.

Fans of the show on Reddit have shared some ideas for possible a spinoff.

Ideas such as a series from the point of view of the show's antagonist Omar Navvaro; a political spinoff with Wendy (no thanks) and Jim; or even a buddy cop type show with Santa Clarita Diet protagonist Joel Hammond (great show, absolutely shocking Netflix cancelled it) and Marty Byrde. Spinoffs seem to be the shit right now.

Better Caul Saul is an almost universally loved show (there are always some haters), and just recently a Game of Thrones spinoff has been announced, House of Dragons, that takes place 200 years before the events in the original series.

It definitely would be a smart choice to make an Ozark spinoff to capitalise on the show's success, but only time will tell if we will ever revisit the world the Byrdes have left in ruin.
