Moodeng to ‘Hawk Tuah’: Easy 2024 Halloween costumes to secure best-dressed

PSA: Halloween is less than a week away…

If you’re lucky enough to be invited to a Halloween soiree this year, you know how difficult it is to decide on a costume. It’s tempting to run into your closest store and pick the most basic b*tch outfit ever (no offence, hot devils).

So many iconic pop-culture moments happened throughout 2024 with heaps of untapped potential you can use for your outfit. We’re talking about everything from chocolate muffins to water bottles.

I’ve rounded up the most iconic ideas that will have everyone gagged at your Halloween function (and maybe a couple of confused stares).

Here are 10 pop culture Halloween costumes for 2024:

Pop girl trinity - Sabrina Carpenter, Chappel Roan and Charli XCX

It’s no secret that the pop girlies were on top this year. We’ve witnessed the rise of Chappel Roan, Sabrina Carpenter - who has us in a chokehold - and Charli XCX’s BRAT album that had us ‘bumpin' that’.

So what cooler group costume is there than to dress up as this trio?

(That is if you have two pals, otherwise, you can always ride solo and pick your fave).

Jojo Siwa - ‘Karmas a Bitch’

Whether it’s the lyrics, dance or style choice, you can’t deny Jojo Siwa’s been on your mind all year long. The release of her hit track ‘Karmas a Bitch’ became an absolute viral movement.

Her black sequin bodysuit and heavy makeup would pop off at any Halloween bash.

Four Seasons Orlando Baby

Look… I’m not particularly sure how you’d pull off this look, but if you can, it’d be priceless. Bonus points if you commit to wearing an adult diaper.

Raygun

The Aussie breakdancer who caused chaos at the Paris Olympic Games this year in her green tracksuit is a perfect pick. The costume even gives you an excuse to bust out some serious moves on the dance floor (good or bad).

Domingo

Ariana Grande's recent skit on SNL has some of us singing ‘Domingo’ instead of ‘Espresso’. While this outfit might be viewed as niche, it’s easy and affordable to replicate.

Take it up a notch and make it a group costume. Round up a few mates to dress as the bridesmaids to back you up.

Moo Deng

Our favourite little pygmy went viral this year for being grumpy at a Thai zoo, and what a cute way to pay tribute. I don’t even think I’d need to put on a costume for this, tbh.

Stanley water bottle

If you’re great with arts and crafts, this outfit is your calling. Stanley water bottles were all the rage in 2024, and they’d also make an impeccable costume. Heaps of colours to pick from as well. How chic.

Your Era’s tour outfit

If you were lucky enough to score tickets to ‘Eras Tour’ this year (ugh, I’m totally jealous), why not recycle the outfit you wore for round two? If you went all out with a Swiftie-inspired costume, there’s no shame in outfit repeating - especially since we all know Taylor Swift is NEVER going out of style.

Hawk Tuah Girl

The Hawk Tuah girly who went viral this year (her name’s Hailey Welch btw), is a super easy, low-maintenance outfit that’s hugely relevant. Just try not to actually spit on anyone.

Henrik Christians and the viral Olympic Chocolate Chip Muffins

Grab your sports gear and grab a dozen choccy muffins. Not only would this costume be comfortable to wear, but you also have an excuse to chow down on some treats while at a party.
