Watch the moment Kim Kardashian tried on Marilyn Monroe's dress for the first time

Marilyn Monroe's dress set the record for being the most expensive dress to ever sell at auction.

As it does every year, the MET Gala served up some absolute goals looks for 2022. ( as well as some that didn't really hit the mark...)

And someone we're always keeping a close eye out for on the carpet is Kim Kardashian.

Going all out for this year's theme with her boyf Pete Davidson, Kim dyed her hair blonde and somehow, managed to sweet talk the owners of Marilyn Monroe's iconic "Happy Birthday Mr. President".

Monroe's dress first sold at auction in 1999 for just over a million dollars but in 2016, was sold again at auction for $4.8 million USD, setting the record for the most expensive dress ever sold at auction.

The dress was later acquired by Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum who lent Kim the dress for this year's MET Gala.

Believe It Or Not posted a BTS vid of Kim Kardashian trying on the dress for the very first time.

Captioning the video, they said "Great care was taken to preserve this piece of pop culture history.

"With input from garment conservationists, appraisers, and archivists, the garment's condition was top priority."

Kim only wore the dress while on the carpet, before quickly changing into a replica for the rest of the night.

"I'm extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history." she told Vogue.

"I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it and I won't be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do," she said. "Everything had to be specifically timed and I had to practice walking up the stairs."

Now we've told you about one of our fave looks, you should go see what we have to say about some of the looks we definitely didn't like from the MET Gala 2022.
