Karl Chitham, who works for Carrfields in North Waikato, was crowned the 2024 NZ Young Auctioneers Competition champion last week.
His relaxed approach to the competition, which he almost skipped due to family commitments, ultimately led to his victory.
Chitham credits his grandfather for sparking his interest in auctioneering and Carrfields in North Waikato for honing his skills.
He also touches on the North Waikato rural economy, with favourable prices offering a bright outlook despite rising costs.
Chitham gears up for a trip to Australia next April to represent New Zealand and expresses his excitement for the next challenge.
