Groundswell Co-Founder Weighs In On NZ's Farming Tax Debate

"A tax is not going to do anything whatsoever," McKenzie exclaims.

The government remains off track for hitting its third budget, which involves introducing ag emissions pricing by 2030, which Groundswell co-founder Bryce McKenzie voices strong opposition to.

He argues that the tax is based on outdated data, which wrongly attributes 50% of the nation's emissions to agriculture.

McKenzie believes the tax would cripple sheep and beef operations, leading to inflated food costs and loss of global competitiveness.

He also delves into the economic and ecological implications of these policies, emphasising the need for ongoing dialogue, warning against complacency as 2030 approaches.
