Harry Styles performs Aussie classic to the 'overwhelming' surprise of original artist in crowd

"I can feel the Aussie coursing through my veins."

Daryl Braithwaite admits he was "overwhelmed" by popstar Harry Styles' performance of the Aussie singer's hit 'The Horses' during his Melbourne show over the weekend.

The Australian singer said: "What an extraordinary night it was at Harry's gig."

He shared the moment on Facebook, with photos from his point of view in the audience.

He added: "I just love the feeling of these massive concerts as they take on a life of [their] own."

"Harry Styles is so good at what he does and they loved him. I was completely overwhelmed by the night. Thank you to Harry and his army."

Other concertgoers shared videos of Braithwaite's reaction on TikTok, and it truly was a magical moment.

Braithwaite was spotted bopping to the song, which was originally written by Rickie Lee Jones and performed on Braithwaite's album, 'Rise', in 1990.

Just listen to everyone singing along, no wonder the Aussie singer was beaming from ear to ear.

Braithwaite previously ?spoke to 2GB radio host Ben Fordham after Styles performed the song at his Perth show, telling him he found Harry's cover "moving".

"When we get people up to sing sometimes they try to embellish on the melody that is actually there, but Harry kept it as per the recording and he did a great job."

He added: "All to him I reckon, it sounded great and it looked mighty."

Styles seems to think very highly of what is considered Australia's "unofficial national anthem", telling Perth fans at his concert, "I can feel the Aussie coursing through my veins," after performing the cover.
