Dom Dolla has finally given a release date for his highly anticipated track 'Rhyme Dust' featuring MK, and he's explained why it took so long to drop.
Next Friday (24th of February) is when the tune is coming out. Fans have been waiting for a full release since Dom posted a snippet to TikTok at the beginning of December last year.
Dom explains that due to that snippet coming out around Christmas time, him and MK having hectic schedules, a sample needing to be cleared, and more, he couldn't just release 'Rhyme Dust' straight away.
"I'm so relieved, oh my god. This has been a very interesting journey for myself and MK," he says. "TikTok is a really interesting place and it's kind of changing the landscape for IDs and DJ culture."
He goes on to say that the tune was originally meant to be released in the middle of 2023. However, after he posted the snippet on TikTok "to see what the vibe was . the internet ran away with it. which is amazing."
"But the amount of hype and demand for the record to be released became very intense, and it was Christmas time!" he said. "The record label was closed, everyone had gone home to see their family, me and MK were touring respectively on different sides of the planet."
"All of a sudden it became very stressful."
"Not only that, we had a bunch of releases lined up over the course of 2023 - MK and I have our own individual songs, we've got collaborations with other people, remix, all that sort of stuff."
"We basically had to go back and renegotiate everything. We also had to clear the sample with Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest (one of my favourite rappers of all time)," he added (he is speaking facts about Q-Tip btw).
"So, unfortunately, you can't just 'release the record now', much as I'd like to," he finished.
But, as mentioned before, it is finally coming on February 24th. You can pre-save the tune at the link in Dom Dolla's Instagram bio.
