Disney has introduced its first plus-size lead female character, Bianca, a ballerina who struggles to find her confidence, but "overcomes her doubt and fear by channelling her inner strength".
Bianca features in "Reflect," as part of Disney's new "Short Circuit", which includes a number of groundbreaking short films as part of the series.
In a sneak peek of the short flick, Bianca attends her ballet class alongside her classmates and teacher who have a noticeable different figures. As she looks in the mirror and notices her body, the mirror cracks and Bianca bursts through in celebration.
The inclusion of Bianca is extremely powerful as she is the first plus-size protagonist in the company's 85 years. Disney's history with plus-size characters has only ever been featured as villains or extras.
Many fans are loving the inclusivity of the character and how she faces a real-life struggle that many people experience, particularly stemming from a young age.
"This is going to be life-changing for so many young girls," wrote one happy Twitter user.
Another agreed, echoing: "So beautiful! What DisneyPlus is doing is so important and inspiring!!"
"finally getting representation, we love to see it," wrote a third.
Others have taken to TikTok to share how Bianca's story in particular has struck a chord with how they relate to her journey.
One user wrote, "I took ballet when I was little and remember feeling so out of place when no one was my size. We need more inclusivity like this and one day I hope we can have a plus size Disney princess so all the little fat girls can see that we don't need to be thin to be beautiful, loved and celebrated."
Here's hoping that Disney will continue to emphasise body diversity with their leading characters.
