An 'American Idol' contestant might’ve just f**ked up the competition in the best way possible after acing his audition with a Korn cover and revealing one of the judges metal alter egos.
18-year-old metalhead Insite covered Korn’s ‘Freak on a Leash’, absolutely killing the nu-metal growls.
He threw in some headbanging, added a bit of a Jonathan Davis flare, and even did the iconic growl beatbox.
Now, it’s not your typical genre for 'American Idol', but Insite definitely left an impression - and unlocked a side of one judge no one saw coming.
“Did you guys enjoy that?” he asked. But, let’s be honest, the answer was pretty obvious.
The whole time, country legend Carrie Underwood was lip-syncing every word and headbanging along.
Lionel Richie picked up on how into it she was and called her out: “She knew every word! Who are you?”
To show off his range, Insite was asked to perform another track, and this time Carrie got out of her seat to be his personal hype woman for a bit of Drowning Pool’s ‘Bodies’.
“We’re starting to learn about Carrie’s alter egos,” Luke Bryan told the young metalhead, adding this time they’re witnessing ‘heavy metal Carrie’.
As Insite launched into his second track, the judges' faces lit up. He impressed with more growling and headbanging while Carrie air-drummed and threw in some vocals on the side.
The rest of the panel couldn’t hold back either. Lionel busted out his air guitar, and Luke joined in with some banging of his own - though, to be fair, his hair wasn’t quite as impressive as Insite’s.
Despite some doubts about how he'd do in the rest of the comp, Insite scored three massive ‘yesses’ from the judges, sending him straight through to the Hollywood round.
Unreal stuff from the kid.
