If you love live music, you'll have been struggling the past couple of years as gig after gig gets cancelled because of the bloody pandemic. It's been tough for us, but how about for the people who actually make their living by putting on these shows? Live music crews have had zero job security and a whole lot of disappointment as their industry has been put through the wringer.
That's why a bunch of Kiwis - including some pretty famous ones like Dave Dobbyn, Neil Finn and Hollie Smith - are throwing their support behind the RoadyForRoadies charity walk to raise some much-needed cash for the cause.
The 16km coast to coast walk will take place on April 29th, starting in Onehunga and finishing in downtown Auckland.
It costs anywhere from $35 ("I'd like to help out") to $100 ("My boss is paying") to sign up to, with all the money going through the MusicHelps charity to support road crews who might be going through rough times with no union support.
The dedication and hard work of road crews is just legendary," says Hollie Smith.
"Working in the music industry can be made up of high highs, and sometimes low lows," She added.
"Being a key part of a massive show is an incredible feeling, but it's not always like that - it's not a fixed income. Looking after road crews who rely on live events will help keep the Kiwi music industry alive through sh*t like this pandemic."
The finish line for the walk will be at The Tuning Fork at Auckland's Spark Arena, where refreshments will be provided for walkers to hang out and enjoy the rest of their Friday arvo.
The RoadyforRoadies 2022 walk is a family-friendly event, where you'll get a bit of fresh air and support a good cause - plus, if you can get your boss on board, maybe you'll get the day off?
Tickets are on sale now, and you can find out more info here.
If you want to support but can't make it to the event, you can make a donation through the RoadyForRoadies GiveALittle page.
