'Staying true to our heritage': Glassons' new range is inspired by an iconic NZ beach

Sorry Australia, but you gotta remember who started all this.

Any Kiwi gals who've felt a little left behind by the Australian-isation of Glassons will love this - the brand's Autumn/Winter 2025 range is all about Aotearoa.

'Borderline', filled with cosy knits, bombers, trenches and denim, celebrates the rugged natural beauty of Auckland's Piha Beach.

Having been invited to check out the collection in store, you can really see the colours of the coastline coming through, with suede, olive green and rich browns.

While Glassons is celebrating its 107-year-old heritage, it's also evolving, and this new range does feel quite high end - but thankfully, the prices have stayed pretty reasonable.

Some key pieces to keep an eye out for are the Alpaca Blend Relaxed Knit Jumper (so cosy and still chic) and the Raw Indigo Wash denim, which looks particularly fire when paired as a set.

I was kindly gifted these to try, and they seemed like they could've easily come from DISSH or Seed - just that little bit bougier than expected.

The new Relaxed Trench Coat is sure to show up in workplaces and universities around the motu, as will the bomber jackets, both oversized and knit versions.

Glassons says it hopes to enter a new era while "staying true to its Kiwi heritage - loved and worn by women today, their mothers, and their mothers’ mothers".

As beloved as the brand is, it has copped criticism for not catering to all bodies, particularly when it comes to swimwear - something they seem to be making an effort to suss.

For the cooler months, it looks like there are plenty of mini skirts and form-fitting tops to choose from alongside lots of boxy cuts and roomy elasticated trousers, so hopefully something for everyone.

You've gotta love to see a Kiwi-born brand repping our stunning country internationally - we'll just have to wait and see how many 'oop, one of us has to go home and change' moments the new season brings.
