Balenciaga announced that for the hefty price of $8,027.50 NZD you could walk away with a worn and distressed-looking festie band - you know, just in case ya wanted to look like you survived a three-day festival without needing to leave the comfort of your home.
The fashion giant says the piece is a "hand-embroidered bracelet.using various artisanal techniques found in the Lesage archives dating back to 1850."
Coming in different colours, the accessory is supposed to mimic a real music festival's wristband after it's been through the ringer for a few days but comes to just shy of 14 Rhythm and Vines V.I.P tickets. Balenciaga keep hounding the fact that these are all unique but so is a Northern Bass band depending on how many different stains you can get on it.
The band was first launched at Balenciaga's Fall/Winter 2024-2025 haute couture show last week where Vogue France said: "Demna (Balenciaga's creative director) reimagines haute couture in a whimsical fusion of fabrics and styles".
Mate. Just looks like they're ripping off a bunch of wannabe ravers, but I guess you have to cater to those who don't want to get their Gucci loafers dirty.
People jumped at the comments saying; "to think I cut mine off smh" and just plain "Yeah he's off his rocker".
This isn't the first time Balenciaga have made some questionable fashion choices. Back in 2021 they were seen ripping off tradies with their eye sore of a High Vis Jacket.
So don't listen to your mates when they tell you to take off your festival wristbands, you could in fact be sitting on a gold mine.
